Upcoming Events

Upcoming Spring Events

Volunteer Night Out – April 23rd at 6 pm.

Here is a great opportunity to get together, chat about the work we do and make some new friends.  This is a human only event and is highly encouraged for our new volunteers. Hosted by one of our volunteers at their home, please RSVP to peggy@palsforlife.org.  Refreshments will be provided.

Stress Reduction for You and Your Pet – May 1 at 5:30 pm.

There are only a few spaces left for this FREE 90-minute workshop where we will learn some chair yoga techniques to reduce stress for humans and discuss how to perform Reiki (the Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing) on our pets for their pleasure. Please bring a stuffed animal to the workshop to practice – no real animals please.  Participants will also receive a chart on identifying stressors in your dog. The workshop will be held at the PFL office on May 1st at 5:30 pm.   The workshop is limited to 12 people, so please RSVP as soon as possible. You do not have to have a therapy dog to participate.

Swarthmore Fun Fair – May 18th from 12 noon to 4 pm

Several of you expressed interest in Volunteering at the PFL booth (#6 by the Brewery) at the Swarthmore Family Fun Fair on May 18th. The event will be held from 12 noon to 4 pm.  Volunteers will be needed from 11:45 am through 4 pm when we will tear down.   We will have a children’s game in the booth to attract people into it. Volunteers are needed to help with that.  Plus if you would like to bring your therapy dog with you to discuss what we do with visitors that would be great.  If you plan on bringing your dog budget only between 45 minutes to an hour for it will be extremely stimulating for them. They have not said anything about what happens if it rains but we will have a tent.  Please let me know if you would like to help.

Volunteers Needed For Iron Pigs!

Last year we did such a great job with the Iron Pigs Bark in the Park, they asked us to come back again this year.  Our game is June 10th and you need to be there by 5 pm.  We are done by the 2nd inning and you can stay, eat some great food (our treat) and watch the game.  It really is a lot of fun and Pals does get a donation from them to make it worth it for us.  Plus, it is great publicity and looks great on our “resume”.   While your therapy dog is welcome to come, it can be hot and very overwhelming.
